It was unusually windy today so I decide to have the kids make a neat airplane kite. They loved it! I was surprised at how well they flew and how high they could go.
This project was good for practicing fine motor skills and following directions (and gave the kids an opportunity to run some energy out). It was also a good opportunity to review the letter K and talk about wind.
Here's what you need:
Printer paper
Coloring materials
Hole-puncher
Ruler
Yarn or string
Directions:
1. Decorate paper with crayons, markers, color pencils, etc.
2. Fold paper in half ("hamburger" style).
3. Measure the folded side of the paper and make a mark at 2 1/2 inches down and another one at 3 1/2 inches.
4. Hole punch at the 3 1/2 inch mark.
5. Bend the out corners of the unfolded paper down to the 2 1/2 inch mark and staple.
6. Tie the string/yarn in the hole.
7. Fin! You've got yourself an airplane kite ready to go :).

Enjoy your next windy day!
Love,
Miss D.
